Meet Our Doctor

Justin Hummelgard

I am originally from Minnesota but have been living in the area since 2020. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Saint Thomas in St. Paul, MN, and earned my DDS degree at Creighton University School of Dentistry, where I met my wife Jordan Hummelgard (maiden name Campbell). She was born and raised in Atchison, completed her undergraduate studies at Benedictine College, and is a dentist at the Atchison County Health Clinic. While attending dental school, I received multiple awards for implants, endodontics, and aesthetic dentistry. I know this is cliché, but as a dentist, I strive to treat my patients as if they were a family member of mine. Having said that, everyone is different and no mouth is the same, so I individualize each treatment according to the whole person. I love the communication and relationships that I build as a dentist. The best part is that I can do this with my neighbors. For the past three years, I have been practicing in St. Joseph and have now owned this practice since 2022. I am honored to be your dentist in St Joseph!

Technology

Digital X-Rays

Dental X-rays enable dentists to see decay inside teeth that would not be visible to the naked eye. This allows us to act earlier against cavities, which is much better for the teeth.

Laser therapy

Gum disease is an inflammatory disease that affects gum tissue and the bones that support our teeth. Gum disease has also been found, in some studies, to increase the likelihood of several serious diseases including heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory disease.

Intraoral Camera

We’ve found that sometimes it’s difficult for our patients to understand the condition of their teeth the way that Dr. Hummelgard does. One way we improve our patients’ dental experience is through the use of an intraoral camera in our diagnosis.
